We are delighted to announce that this season will see the formation of a Gordonian RFC 13/14’s age grade team. Following the success of the Pelicans, the club is at the stage where junior rugby for 1st and 2nd year pupils is now a viable option and allows us to offer rugby to an increased number of local children.
The team will run with support from Robert Gordons College and allow players from the wider Aberdeen area to play for the club alongside kids from the college who are looking to play rugby as a pathway into the school sides. This collaboration will benefit the club as it will help boost our playing numbers while benefiting the school by giving opportunities for all of their students to play regular rugby.
This marks a huge step forward for the club in our plans to bridge the gap between pelicans and the senior side. At this stage our main focus is on driving playing numbers, coaches and parent helpers to ensure the side remains viable throughout the season. If you would like more information or feel you or your kids would like to get involved then please contact us via our social media channels.
Additionally, we are pleased to announce that the Pelicans and newly formed Gordonians RFC 13/14’s age grade team has attracted support from local business, Altrad Services – underpinning a joint commitment to promote the game of rugby at a grass-roots level within the Aberdeen area. Altrad Services are a subsidiary of the Altrad Group – a globally recognised brand synonymous with the game of rugby – proudly sponsoring both the All Blacks and France as well as supporting clubs in both the Top 14 and Super 14 competitions.
